UCLA BMES will introduce a competitive design team this year to submit a project to two nationwide competitions, the DEBUT competition and the annual BMES design competition. This team aims to provide further opportunities for students looking for more challenging engineering design problems with emphasis on medical devices. To that end, this year’s design will consist of a small mountable device attached to a knee brace that will record movement data from knee injury patients; a physical therapy program will be coded to be used in conjunction with the sensor. Hence, the project team consists of both hardware and software components, covering a multitude of interests.
This team is mainly for third-years, but experienced second years may be accepted as well. Come back soon for more information on how to get involved!
